A Life on Canvas: Tigran Tokmajyan's 80 years of family and national pride


For the past two weeks, a visit to the Union of Armenian Painters has been a visit to Armenia itself. There the work of 80-year old artist Tigran Tokmajyan paints the country's history in the bright colors of nature. There, too, on 81 canvases is the history of a national artist.

Dead Women Walking: A night of contemporary art in Yerevan


In an audience hall there are girls first walking on all fours then resting their hands crosswise upon bars placed on their necks, then playing ball. Onstage again there are girls gathered in a musical band, dressed in wedding dresses and playing guitars and other instruments.

September 11, Yerevan. Commemorating the American tragedy, events at Moscow cinema hosted by the US embassy became a solemn tribute due to Armenian citizens -- officials, clergymen, simple people, children, who came to join their voices to the world's choir condemning terrorism.
