Tennis (Kremlin Cup)
Sargis Sargsyan was runner-up in the Kemlin Cup
International Series Tournament which concluded
October 5.
Sargsyan, of Yerevan, lost the championship match
to American Taylor Dent, 6-7, 4-6. It was Dent's
second ATP victory in two weeks and he became
the first American to win the Kremlin Cup.
Sargsyan earned $83,600 and collected 35 race
points moving up from 49th place to 42nd in the
ATP rankings.
Immediately after the Kremlin Cup, Sargsyan flew
to Vienna, Austria where he lost in the first
round of another International Series Tournament
to Spain's (eight seed) Albert Costa 4-6, 4-6.

Armen
Narzaryan, formerly a member of the Armenian
wrestling team, won gold for Bulgaria.

Three Armenians took medals in the 48th World
Greco-Roman Senior Championships in France last
week. None, however, was representing Armenia.
Armen Nazaryan of Bulgaria won gold in the 60
kg. weight category. Armen Vardanyan from Ukraine
took silver in 66 kg. And Ara Abrahamyan of Sweden
won silver in 84 kg.
None of the Armenian team placed.
