Sports: Pyunic scores UEFA victory

A Pyunic player is caught between his rivals, but his team came out on top.

Wednesday (July 16) FC Pyunic met with Icelandic title-holders KR Reykjavik in a UEFA Champions League's first qualifying round match in Yerevan at Republican Stadium.

After controlling most of the match, the Yerevan club managed a 1-0 victory on a 61st-minute goal by Levon Pachajyan from a perfect cross pass by Carl Lombe.

The home team had a chance to double its margin in the 77th minute, but Rafael Nazaryan's penalty shot was saved by Reykjavik goalkeeper Kristjan Finnbogason.

The 1-0 victory provides a slim cushion for Pyunic in UEFA standings, as it travels to Iceland next Wednesday for a rematch at Laugardalsvöllur stadium.
