More in the Year of Khachatryan Concerts dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Aram Khachatryan, were held at the Hall of National Philharmonic of Warsaw on November 28-29.

Arminfo reported that the National philharmonic orchestra of Warsaw played at the concert. The concerts were organized by Adam Mitskevich Institute of international cultural cooperation with the assistance of Armenia's Ambassador to Poland Ashot Hovakimian.


Health Through Art
Minister of Health Norayr Davidian awarded money and prizes to winners of Armenian Young Painters Against Drugs competition, organized in the frameworks of the national program aimed at prevention of alcohol and drug addiction, reported Panarmenian network.

The competition was organized with the support of World Health Organization. The authors of the eight best paintings received $50 each and the winner of the first place got $100.


Film Studio in NKR
During a recent meeting, NKR Minister of Education, Culture, and Sport Armen Sargisyan and the filmmaker Don Askaryan of Germany reached an agreement on founding a film studio in Nagorno Karabakh., reported Yerkir online.

Sargisyan pointed out the importance of opening a film studio, because the country needs professionally shot films, in particular, the ones on national traditions, historical and cultural monuments. In his turn, Askaryan stated his willingness to contribute to the cause. He founded his own film production in Germany in 1982. As film director he has shot seven films, four of them being full-length and feature films, three documentaries. Some of the fragments were shot in Armenia. During two days, Don Askarian's "Avetik" and "Komitas" films were demonstrated at the Stepanakert Club of Officers.


On Yerevan Stages ...

December 7: "We are your children - Armenia", a concert in commemoration of the 15th anniversary of the Spitak earthquake. Armenian Singers and actors, such as Armen Tjigarkhanyan, Irina Alegrova, Dmitri Kharatyan will perform. The concert is organized by the Embassy of Russan Federation In Armenia.

December 11-13: Vardan Petrosyan will demonstrate his Benefice Program, which is a collection of best parts of his last 10 performances. The Show will take place at Paronyan Theatre.

Out of step with the times?

About 100 hardliners marched in Yerevan last Saturday to mark the 83 year anniversary of Armenia becoming a communist country. Many oldtimers wish it were, still.
