Mr. Peter Eichstaedt and Mr. David Dowell seem
to have missed the point regarding the Armenian
Genocide, its effect on the Armenian psyche and
the efforts to have it recognized by Turkey.
I disagree with both authors that the recognition
of the Armenian Genocide will bring nothing to
Armenia and the people of Armenia. Recognition
by Turkey of the Armenian Genocide implies recognition
of its responsibility in that crime against humanity,
which has no statute of limitation and for which
it is obliged to make compensation and reparations
to Armenia and the Armenian people.
I am sure if Mr. Dowell visits Tsitsernakabert
on April 24, he will see there a lot of the recipients
of his aid among the ranks of the hundreds of
thousands of those who pay tribute annually to
the victims of the Genocide.
