In memory of Earthquake victims An art
exhibition "The Colors of Gyumri" opened
on Dec 9 at the Consulate General of Armenia in
Syria. Works of 22 painters residing in Gyumri
were exhibited. The event was organized in commemoration
of the 15th anniversary of the earthquake in Armenia.
The exhibition was held under the auspices of
Aleppo Governor Usam Amed Adi on the initiative
of the Consulate General of Armenia in Syria.
Arminfo reports that in Nice, France December
7 a city chamber orchestra played a commemorative
concert under the direction of Alain Babuhchjana
with participation of Armenian violinist Ruben
Aharonyan.
Khachatryan's year According to PanArmenian
network, a concert devoted to 100th anniversary
of composer Aram Khachaturyan and of the victims
of the 1988 earthquake was held in the town of
Mar del Plata, Argentina. The concert was organized
by the Armenian Embassy in Argentina and the Municipality
of Mar del Plata.
Abstractionism from Soviet time till now
Opening of the exhibition "Dynamics of the
development of abstract art in Armenia in 1980-90"
was held at Yerevan's picture gallery "Akanat"
on 12 December.
Organizers of the exhibition Ani Sukiasian and
Tatul Arakian said that it is the 5th exhibition
which presents Armenian artists-abstractionists.
Ani Sukiasian mentioned that the goal of a number
of exhibitions was the desire to stress the circumstance
that from all the former soviet republics abstract
art was the most widespread in Armenia. Over 50
paintings were displayed at this exhibition.
New Album Singer Emma Petrosian is now
busy with the arrangement of songs for her new
album, reports abide.am . The album, which still
has no name, will include songs of different authors.
There are songs of Aramo and of Emma's own composition
as well as. The songs will be recorded in "Asparez"
studio. Now the only song that is ready is the
song "Andsord" (The passer-by), its
music is written by Vard Manukian and the author
of words is Sona Van. Emma says this song is very
dear to her and she hopes it will be appreciated
by her fans and listeners.
On Yerevan Stages
December 15 Rock Festival "Mind Power"
will take place in the Puppet Theatre featuring
several Armenian rock ensembles, such as "Sard",
"Don't call it unplugged", "Empyray",
"MDP".
December 18 A concert against AIDS will
feature Armenian pop starts at the American University
of Armenia.
December 18 Armenian People's Artist Vanush
Khanamiryan will perform in special, original
"New Year masquerade" at the Youth Palace.
