Chess (FIDE rankings)
After successful performances of the Armenian
men's and women's chess teams at the 35th Chess
Olympiad taking place in Bled, Slovenia the rankings
of Armenian chess players have changed.
According to FIDE (Federation Internationale
des Echecs) rankings for December there are three
Armenian men and two women players among the best
100 chess players in the world.
The best Armenian chess player is still Vladimir
Hakopyan, ranked 20th with 2,678 points.
Rafael Vahanyan is 28th in the world, with 2,664
points and Smbat Lputyan is 56th with 2,634 points.
The best Armenian woman chess player is Elina
Danielyan, at 40th with 2,411 points, followed
by Lilit Mkrtchyan at 49th place.
