"HIV/AIDS was extremely spread in Russia. People
got infected either as a result of unsafe sexual relations
or drugs or not single-use syringes," says 31-year
old Aram Hakobyan. "Many people used the same spoon
for drugs, sometimes even the drug itself was already
infected.

The first snow of the year is always nice to see. The
blanket of whiteness puts a hush over the city and a
smile on people's faces. Scarves and sweaters, hats
and gloves are pulled out of closets and people look
like bundles of clothes waddling down the sidewalks.
We know the holiday season is here finally. With our
mild fall this year, it seemed to take forever.
Reclamation: Pieces of history
being preserved in Lachin Corridor

A museum opened last month in the village of Tsitsernavank,
part of the corridor that links Armenia and Karabakh
and a territory of severe fighting during the 1990-94
war. The territory, previously known as Lachin, is now
called Kashatagh.
From a huge territory deep under the ground come strong
sounds of invigorating music and a crowd freely dances
while others line up at the bar, trying to catch the
attention of the bartenders who in their turn are doing
their best to get all the orders...
Like other societies, Armenians enjoy a good scandal
and are moved and made angry by the troubles of others.
And it is that characteristic that makes a rich audience
for TV serials or "soap operas" as they are
known in the West.

After successful performances of the Armenian men's
and women's chess teams at the 35th Chess Olympiad taking
place in Bled, Slovenia the rankings of Armenian chess
players have changed.
Yerevan got its first snow of the season on Tuesday
and the city's kids got an excuse for mischief.
By Thursday the fluff had turned to glaze and
snow fights stopped, in favor of watching the
unsure of foot suffer the pride-bruising consequence
of sidewalks turned into ice ramps.
